Great News! As of the end of November 2019, the very generous and devoted parishioners of both St. Augustine’s and Good Shepherd have pledged over 85% of the funds needed to build the church and parish center in Mitu, Colombia.
$10,000 has now been transferred to Bishop Medardo at the Diocese in Bogota, providing the first installment to be used towards building materials and site preparation. A photo has been added to our story boards in both churches showing the actual building site for the new Parish as well as a local Mitu family who is providing a home for Fr. Robinson Leon, the project manager, when he is on site.
Our parishes will be shipping a large box to the people of Mitu which includes some clothing and 1,500 Rosary Beads made by a group at Good Shepherd. It is hoped that this shipment is received by Bishop Medardo and delivered to the people of Mitu in time for Christmas.
A large clothing drive to benefit Mitu is also being planned for both parishes early in 2020.
Please continue to send in your monthly Mitu contributions, and we will continue to provide updates as this very exciting project moves forward. And remember, we have the entire Diocese of Mitu praying for us as well as for our success. There will be 4,000 people using the Church that we build and giving thanks daily with their prayers and thoughts of gratitude.
