This March, the parishes of Good Shepherd and St. Augustine will launch the Diocese of Worcester’s
Legacy of Hope capital campaign. Legacy of Hope is a landmark financial endeavor to strengthen our local parish communities and our diocesan Church. The diocese has assigned each parish a target goal, with pledges paid in monthly, quarterly, semi-annual, or annual installments over a four-year period. Funds will be used across the diocese to support essential efforts, including helping with social service programs, funding retirement for our beloved priests, supporting evangelization efforts, offering tuition assistance to boost Catholic School enrollment, and maintaining the beacon of our diocese, St. Paul’s Cathedral.
But funds raised will also lead to improvement efforts in our own parish community. As we build toward this goal, 40% of all funds raised will be regularly distributed back to Good Shepherd to support our own projects, as identified by parish leadership. If we exceed our goal, then 60% of all funds raised over that goal will go back to our parish.
So what does this mean for Good Shepherd? There are several projects already identified by our parish that these contributions can help fund for the betterment of our church and the welcoming community we provide. These include but are not limited to:
Repairing the parish roof and ceiling
Painting the interior of the parish
Replacing the ramp that goes into the parish for better handicap accessibility
Replacing the broken stairlift that descends into the Parish Hall.
But to succeed we need your help. First, we ask that all parishioners prayerfully consider what they would be willing and able to pledge to support this essential campaign. Additionally, we are also looking to recruit between five to ten volunteers to serve on our Legacy of Hope Committee. Over the four-year duration of this campaign, this committee will be responsible for spearheading fundraising efforts, connecting with the community, and driving decisions to ensure the campaign’s success. If you are interested in being part of this committee,
please reach out to Father Victor to discuss the requirements.
Thank you for your consideration and for all of your continued support of our remarkable parish community.
